I watch him do this until the cabinet is empty. Then he runs his hands over the shards and hands whole plates back to his audience of rapt children. From his elaborate hand gestures, I can only surmise that he's encouraging them to smash the plates so the fun can start all over again. Suddenly, my mother catapults into view, snatching plates left and right out of the children's hands.
